College: Brown University
Major/Minor: Music and Economics
Arts Background: I started violin in middle school and then got really into playing viola in high school! I had the opportunity to play with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, which afforded me the chance to learn from amazing musicians. In college, I expanded my arts knowledge by taking a music theory class and getting involved in musical theatre.
Why did you pursue an internship at the Kennedy Center?
As a musician, I am passionate about the performing arts. However, as someone who is very analytical minded, I am also very interested in the numbers and facts behind a performing arts institution. When I found out that the Kennedy Center specifically had an internship position for data and analytics, I knew I wanted to intern here!

What do you do in your internship placement?
I get to look at the vast amounts of data the Kennedy Center collects and try to make sense out of it. One specific thing I’m working on is building a tool to predict how many Playbills we need to print for each concert to reduce environmental waste.
What is your favorite project you have worked on?
With each project I work on, I find out fun facts about the Kennedy Center through our data warehouse – it’s like a treasure hunt! Did you know that while visiting the Kennedy Center you are more likely to meet someone named Mary than someone from Texas?
Favorite thing to do in the Kennedy Center: I love walking around and exploring!
Favorite thing to do in Washington D.C.: My favorite thing to do is visit museums and find unique dessert places around the city.
Advice for prospective Kennedy Center interns: I almost did not apply because I felt under-qualified for the position. So, if you’re debating between whether or not to apply, my advice is to put your best self forward and go for it!
